Charles Dawrin stated he was wrong!

I googled this, and got the whole story.  (answersingenesis.org) and here it is:

It has been widely held among many sincere and well-meaning Christians that Charles Darwin on his deathbed not only renounced evolution, but also accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. The tale of this deathbed conversion has been passed down over the years as fact. This “event” has even been used as “evidence” that evolution is false. The overzealous have, at times, boldly proclaimed, “See—even Darwin knew that this theory was not true!”

Isn't that weird? Charles Darwin even admitted it. Here is one of Ray Comforts recent posts:

“For the record, Ray believes what Romans 1:18 says that there are no such thing as atheists; all people actually believe in God, even atheists, but atheists act as if they don't because they don't want to submit to His authority. As an atheist myself, I disagree with this point of view. But Ray has expressed this point of view many times before.”

Every one of us has intuitive knowledge that God exists.  This is true, from the most ignorant and primitive tribal groups (such as university students) to the intelligent indigenous people of Africa.

I don't think there is such a thing as an atheist, we all know instinctively that God exists. There is absolutely no evidence that He doesn't.

  1. First, I am sorry to tell you, but answersingenesis are known to be liars about science, about history, and about approximately anything they say on this site.

Second, I am still sorry to tell you, even if they were right in this case, it does not invalidate the theory of evolution. You see, science is not like religion. Scientists do not follow people, they do not change their opinions based on what other people believe. They follow the evidence.

And the evidence that Darwin published, along with all the evidence found in the 150 years since (evidence such as the fact that we can use techniques similar to those used in paternity tests on the species level to determine whether these species are related, or that the mitochondrial family tree matches the "main body" family tree perfectly) points to the common descent of every single living organism.

Spreading stories about a deathbed conversion does not change that, and it would not even if you had evidence for this conversion (which you have not produced, and AiG has not produced either)

You are attacking the wrong target, Chelcea, because you assume that people make their decisions in the same way you do.

  2. AiG lists Darwin's deathbed conversion as an argument an apologist should never use. Chelcea either did not read past the first paragraph or has no reading comprehension. Even AiG knows this is a false rumor about Charles Darwin.
